How do you install (or upgrade) Usage Meter?

The Usage Meter is available in form of an appliance which can be deployed through vSphere WebClient Interface. The appliance is available on My VMware Portal to download and can be deployed anywhere on the infrastructure which is reachable on the network where other VMware products part of VCPP bundle are deployed and configured.

The latest and supported version of Usage Meter is v3.6.1 and recommend Partners to deploy to this version. The following document provides instructions on installation:

Usage Meter Upgrade is similar to a fresh install of Usage Meter appliance, along with an additional step to migrate existing data from the older version appliance to the newly deployed latest version appliance. The latest and supported version of Usage Meter is v3.6.1 and recommend Partners to upgrade to this version.

These are the supported versions for Usage Meter Upgrade:

  • Usage Meter 3.5
  • Usage Meter 3.6.0.0
  • Usage Meter 3.6.0.1

Partners using older versions (prior to above versions) can choose to deploy a fresh install of latest Usage Meter and configure it. Optionally, the older version of Usage Meter could be kept for 3 to 6 months for any historical data access.
