What are the possible scenarios that you need to be aware of when upgrading from vCloud SP Standard bundle (5-points) to Flex?

The vCloud SP Standard bundle (5-points) is the oldest bundle in VMware Cloud Provider Program which has reached EOA (End-Of-Availability) on April 2018. This bundle has been discontinued and not available to any new Partners signing up for the Program. The 5-point Standard bundle will reach EOL (End-Of-Life) on March 13, 2020 which means existing Partners using this bundle are required to upgrade to next higher bundle. i.e vCloud SP Advanced bundle or Core in Flex – both equivalent to 7-points.

As when a Partner reporting vCloud SP Standard bundle (5-points) sign-up for Flex, you will lose access to the 5 point Bundle in VMware Business Portal for submitting the usage and would need to report the usage against the next lowest 7-point bundle from the month when converted to FLEX. Contracts that are moved into Flex cannot be reverted back.

The new Flex model has been released on May 1 2019, all Partners who signed up prior to this date can use the vCloud SP Bundles until Oct 31, 2020 as when the Bundles will reach EOL (End-Of-Life). However, the vCloud SP Standard Bundle will reach EOL (End-Of-Life) on March 13, 2020.

Hence are some scenarios to be checked as when you transition from 5-point bundle into Flex:

  • Applicable contract point-plan upgrade from 3600 points to 10800 points – In this instance, you can extend the use of 5-point bundle until Oct 31, 2020.
  • Requirement to consume more products and features than Standard bundle (5-points) – Recommended path is to sign up for Flex as lowest product in Flex is Core and equivalent to 7 points.
  • Transition to Flex Core before the 5-point bundle is End-Of-Life. i.e before March 13, 2020.
